Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes 5-8 Review

Today we're going to review part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies. This part is made to work with the other parts that we sell separately. This is the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt which is part number 7-75. It is sold separately. It is listed on this product page as a related product.

The lock washer is made to go on there, and also the other piece that we sell separately, it's made to go with is the mounting nut for the brake assembly for 7 and 10 inch brake assemblies. It's part number 6-17 and that's made to screw on to the . and all 3 of those pieces again are sold separately. That should do it for part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies..

Had to order these separately...the brake kit should come with these.

by:

Very courteous and professional. Timing of shipment is awesome. If delays in shipping, the company maintains updates to the company.
Very professional staff. We are very pleased with this company.

by:

One of the brake assemblies came short two mounting bolts. Installing them tomorrow.

by:

I purchased electric brake parts for a tow dolly. The staff at etrailer guided me thru the selection process and offered a perfect solution. It is nice to have a company like etrailer and their staff of true professionals. Everything had been absolutely perfect one year after install and expect many more years of service from these components. Thanks etrailer.

by:

I bought for these brake assemblies. Installation was straight forward and after a year of use and about 3500 miles, they spray to be performing well. My only concern is one of the four occasionally sticks which heats up that wheel. Backing up a short distance seems to release it, but I'd like to feel more confident that it's working correctly.

by:

Hardware was correct and they worked fine for my brake assemblies.

Its holding well

by:

Hydraulic trailer drum brakes. Received within a few days. Easy to install, not that complicated. Needed a second person to help bleed the brakes.

by:

The 5-8 lock washers for the four bolt brake mounting flange are an excellent replacement on my 1997 Coleman Fleetwood Bayports popup camper that I am close to finishing a restoration process on. They fit perfectly! Very happy to purchase an excellent product from the fastest shipper I have ever come across. I am blown away by the professionalism with this company!
Thanks

by:

  • Recommended Self Adjusting Brakes for 2014 Keystone Laredo 5W Travel Trailer
Based on your Dexter brake assembly information, it looks like you've got the Dexter brake kit # K23-463-00 currently on your trailer. To replace your existing brakes with self adjusting brakes I recommend the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 4.4K, Item # K23-478-479. This kit fits 13-inch to 15-inch wheels and includes both the driver's-side and passenger's-side brake assemblies, adjuster plugs, mounting bolts, and nuts. The lockwashers...

  • Fit & Compatibility of Timbren Axle-Less Suspension w/4" Lift & Electric Brakes on 1962 Airstream
It sounds like you might have a 1962 Globe Trotter Airstream Travel Trailer. According to my research this has a dry weight of 2,770lbs and a hitch weight of 400lbs hitch ball height of 19.5 If the 3,500lbs weight capacity will work for your loaded Airtstream, then the Timbren axle-less system # ASR3500S06 could be just what your looking for. Since this hasn't been installed on this trailer before here are the dimensions you will need to check to determine if this system will work for...

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies, Drums and Bearings for 2007 Extreme Megalite 19LT Travel Trailer
For new brake assemblies, I'd recommend the etrailer.com 10 inch Self Adjusting assemblies, part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right. For each assembly, you'll need 4 nuts, part # 6-17 and 4 lock washers, part # 5-8. Closely examine the armature surface of your existing brake drums (inside surface that the brake magnet rides against). If the surface is pitted or grooved, I'd recommend replacing the hub/drum so it doesn't prematurely wear the magnets on...

  • Parts Needed to Install Electric Brakes On 1995 Coleman Destiny Royale Trailer
To make sure that you get the correct parts, I would need to know the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the metal of the bearings. There are different 5 lug bolt patterns. Use the FAQ I have linked to measure for bolt pattern so you can get the correct hub and drum assemblies. If you do not have EZ Lube axles, you will not need EZ lube hub and drum assemblies. If you do have L44649 inner and outer bearings and the seal has a 1.987 outer diameter and 1.5 inch inner diameter,...

  • Replacement Hub/ Drums, Brake Assemblies and Tires for 2003 Trail-Lite Travel Trailer
The Hub and Drum assembly you referenced, part # 84546UC3 has the same casting number on it, so it is most likely the correct replacement for you. I would recommend looking at your existing bearings to confirm a match. If the existing bearings you have are # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer, these are the correct replacements. For electric brake assemblies, use # 23-26 for the left side, and # 23-27 for the right. The mounting nuts, # 6-17 and lock washers, # 5-8 are not included. You...

  • Which Hub Drums and Brake Assemblies for 3500lb Axle on Utility Trailer
It sounds like you have a pretty good handle on what you need. If your existing hubs use the 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle, and the surface of your spindle where the grease seal rides is around 1.719 inches, the # AKHD-545-35-K is the proper hub/drum. You can go with standard brake assemblies, like # AKEBRK-35L for the left side and # AKEBRK-35R for the right. However, I'd recommend going with self adjusting assemblies like part # AKEBRK-35R-SA or the right sided and # AKEBRK-35L-SA...

The Dexter Hub/ Drum you mentioned, part # 8-173-16UC3 would be a proper replacement for you as long as the inner and outer bearings in your existing hubs are # L44649, the grease seal is # 10-9 and the 4-on-4 bolt pattern matches up with your existing hubs. Your existing bearings and grease seals should have reference numbers stamped on them, make sure the numbers on the existing parts match those of the replacements. The mounting studs on trailer brake assembly # K23-478-00 are 7/16 inch requiring the 7/16 inch nut # 6-17. You would also want to use lock washer # 5-8. This is a standard size for 10x2-1/4 inch brakes. The outer diameter of the nuts is larger of course so it is not surprising that the wrench you used was larger.

To start, the trailer is going to need hub and drum assemblies. Based on the bearing numbers there are several options available.
